STARS FOR A NIGHT - KIDS EAT STEAK, ADULTS BURGER!
BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF UNION COUNTY TO HOST STEAK & BURGER FUNDRAISER DINNER

SEPTEMBER 23

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County will host a Steak & Burger Dinner, on Tuesday, September 23, 2008. Presented by Outback Steakhouse of Springfield, the dinner is a fundraiser for the organization which operates facilities in Union, Roselle, Roselle Park, Plainfield, and Elizabeth.

It offers kids a safe place to learn and grow through programs and services that promote and enhance their development by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. Boys & Girls Club members will be treated to steak while sponsoring adults will eat burgers.

Present will be the 2008 Union County Youths of the Year, club Teens who have made outstanding contributions to his or her family, school, community and Boys & Girls Club while having faced and overcome personal challenges. Entertainment will be provided by Boys & Girls Club members.

The Club provides quality youth development programs everyday after school, on weekends and in the summertime.  We provide much more than just an alternative to the streets.

Amirah Beeks, 18, of Elizabeth selected as the 2008 Union County Youth of the Year



A member of the Elizabeth Boys & Girls Club, Beeks will receive a $1,000 scholarship. The 2008 Union County Youth of the Year nominees also included Arianna Vinardell of Roselle Park Club; Yasmin Freeman and Mansa El-Amin of Union Club, and Ce'Rae Tyler of Plainfield.

The Youth of the Year program, which is administered by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and has been nationally sponsored by the Reader's Digest Foundation since 1947, recognizes outstanding contributions to a member's family, school, community and Boys & Girls Club, as well as personal challenges and obstacles overcome.
