What the Boys & Girls Club Meant to Me
I am proud to say that I was a Boys and Girls Club kid! That's right, I joined the Boys and Girls Club back in 1956 when my mother and father took me to the Boys & Girls Club of Clifton. I was fortunate to grow up in that Boys & Girls Club all the way through my high school years.
I have many wonderful memories of the fun I had with all of my friends and the caring staff who I still remember even today. As a youth, I couldn't wait to go to the Club each day.
After leaving the Club as a member, I continued to be associated with the organization as a part-time staff member in charge of the game room.
My love for the organization has transpired into a 35 year professional career, the last 27 years proudly serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County.
What I've noticed throughout my years is that children today need to Boys and Girls Club as much if not even more than I did growing up. There is no question in my mind that kids have it more difficult today than kids did when I was growing up.
We do wonderful things for children in our organization, mainly because we have a dedicated Board of Directors and Professional Staff.
As was the case when I was a youth, Boys & Girls Clubs still provide boys and girls with a safe place to learn, grow and develop their skills.
We are in the youth development business! That's what we do!
If your child is not yet a member of our organization, please sign them up today.
We are truly the "Positive Place for Kids"
Sincerely,
Russ
