Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County Hosts Grand Opening of New Plainfield Club
PLAINFIELD, NJ - What a great time everyone had at the Grand Opening and Open House of Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County new Plainfield Club! Our new facility is located at 145 Park Avenue, Plainfield.
Guests and dignitaries visited the Club on Thursday August 25 and had an opportunity to tour the new facility, meet our staff and learn about After School and Teen Leadership Programs. Parents were able to register for After School Programs for the new school year.
Comcast Hosts Career Day for Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County Teens
A group of about 30 teenagers from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County (BGCUC) had a great opportunity to see first-hand the many career opportunities at Comcast, during a visit to Comcast’s Union, NJ, facility on Friday, Aug. 12.
The visit was part of a Career Day event that included speakers, presentations and hands-on experiences. Members of the BGCUC met with Comcast representatives from technical operations, marketing, human resources/recruiting and video production. They learned about the jobs of our communications technicians and the complex technology employed at Comcast, saw a demonstration of Comcast’s Olympics experience on X1, learned about job interview etiquette and visited the set of Comcast Newsmakers, where the students took turns interviewing each other and getting a behind-the-scenes look in the production booth.

New York Liberty Legend Sue Wicks Joins Coca-Cola & ShopRite at a Fit Clinic and Day of Fun for Boys & Girls Club Youth of Union County
UNION, NJ - Coca-Cola’s Dasani brand and ShopRite of Union are teaming up with the Boys and Girls Club of Union County to provide a day of fun for Union County youth. WNBA Legend and Founder of Fight 2B Fit, Sue Wicks, will lead a basketball clinic for 75 young people.
The Knicks Groove Truck, a branded box truck equipped with televisions and basketball hoops built into the side, will be available to bring the excitement of Knicks basketball to the Boys and Girls Club of Union County.
S.A.T. Prep classes for redesigned SAT offered at Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County
Boys & Girls Clubs of Union Co., Union Club in collaboration with the Chandler Learning Center will be hosting an S.A.T. prep course for the new, redesigned S.A.T. Classes are open to Juniors and Seniors registered for the June 4th, 2016 (or later) S.A.T. test.
Classes will be held Mondays and Thursdays as follows: Monday May 16th & 23rd; Thursday May 16th, May 26th and June 2nd. All classes are from 6:30PM to 8:30 PM. Classes will be taught by instructors from The Chandler Learning Center. For the past 20 years they have been tutoring students in Summit and surrounding areas.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — Lisa Sepetjian’s brightly-colored blazer cannot compete with her dazzling smile as she walks briskly down the hall of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Union County, located in Union.
Close by in the large gymnasium you can hear the sounds of a basketball game in progress. Darting back and forth across the polished floor, a group of boys dribble a ball, whistling and calling to each other across the vast space. One of them catches the ball, swivels, and effortlessly tosses it into the faraway basket. Off in another corner, a small group of girls is playing their own game of basketball. A vivid mural adorns one of the walls.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County Swim Team celebrates with a splash Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County, Union Club Tidal Wave Swim Team Celebrated 2016 Rio Olympics with a party during Boys & Girls Club Week. Special guest was Ron Karnaugh, top-ranked swimmer in the200m medley at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, and BGCUC Alumnae. Swimmers, parents and guests all enjoyed a traditional Olympic parade of nations throughout the Union Club to the Aquatics Center, which was decorated with flags of many nations.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County names Ronnie Brangman Youth of the Year Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County named Union High School senior, Ronnie Brangman, as the 2016 Youth of the Year at the annual awards dinner Tuesday April 5th at Galloping Hill Caterers. This year's dinner was attended by almost 200 guests, including Union County Freeholder Angel Estrada and Union Township Mayor Manuel Figueiredo. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County is looking for volunteer tutors to help with the after school program at the Union facility. Students range in age from Kindergarten through High School.
The subject areas immediately needed are Elementary & Middle School Mathematics, Elementary & Middle School Language Arts, and Middle School Science & Social Studies. Tutors for other subjects/grades are also needed.

Nunzio's BBQ 'Grills' Up Support for Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County
An area restaurant recently donated $360 to the Boys and Girls Club of Union County, proceeeds from a yearlong fundraising program designed to help area non-profit groups.
The restaurant, Nunzio’s BBQ Charcoal Grill in Vauxhall, is calling the program "Eat for Charity" and owner Diana Yuen said it is being done to celebrate Nunzio's 11th anniversary.
Yuen said the establishment will donate 10 percent of the day’s gross sales from the first day of each month to a local non-profit organization.Yuen visited the Boys and Girls Club on Jan 15 and presented a check for $360.

Boys & Girls Club Chief to Attend National Youth Council Meetings Atlanta, Georgia: Russell Triolo, Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County, will be attending Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s National Joint President’s Advisory Council and National Area Council Committee meetings on January 20 – 21. The joint committees are leading the effort to chart the movement’s plans to provide maximum positive impact on the lives of children who need us most through 2025.

Elizabeth Chance, executive director of The Westfield Foundation, along with Trustees Darielle Walsh and Claudia Andreski, visited the Union Club to present the award to Russell Triolo, CEO.
