An Update from Russell Triolo, CEO
DECEMBER 2021 CEO UPDATE
WHATEVER IT TAKES!
Whatever It Takes. This is our motto. It represents everything we do at Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County to set youth and teens on the path to a great future. These words have always been true of our mission and our work but they have taken on new meaning in today’s environment.
Today’s youth are growing up in a world much different from that of previous generation. The structure and patterns of family life of change dramatically. Many of our members are from single-parent homes or being raised by grandparents or other family members. Childhood obesity is at an all-time high. Most young people are confronted with dangerous influences like gangs, drugs and alcohol, and violence in their schools and neighborhoods.
However, not all young people get the support and mentorship they need to thrive. Our club alumni say that without club intervention by caring adult mentors, they often would have made choices that could undermine their future.
Children need to have a place where they are physically and emotionally safe. In addition to providing a caring environment, we offer daily access to a broad range of programs that promote the education, health, social character, service and leadership of the youth we serve.
As the end of 2021 is nearing, I wish you a Happy Holidays filled with love and bright moments.
Thank you to our many supporters for your generosity and your willingness to go above and beyond for the kids.
Thank you for helping to make Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County what it is.
